Sweet Mother (2008) Sweet Mother is a short film created by the graduating (BA) Film students at the Arts University College Bournemouth (AUCB). I designed and sourced the costumes for this film whilst in my second year studying 'Costume for the Stage and Screen' at the AUCB. I enjoyed the challenge of designing for a contrast of different cultures and gaining knowledge about the design process when designing for film opposed to theatre. Synopsis Sweet Mother is a family drama which tackles the issues surrounding growing up as a young black man in a violent city and what it means to be raised by a mother for whom you are never quite good enough. Awards ‘Sweet Mother’ was awarded the coveted Trailblazer Award at the Edinburgh Festival. The award was presented by veteran actor Sean Connery.
